Names of Some of the Most Popular and Used Classic Cars

The BMW 2000 was launched in 1968. This two-door sedan essentially cemented the company's reputation for sporting sedans and was produced continuously until 1976 before being replaced by the 1502 and the 1802.

In 1978 the Dodge Omni appeared on the market and is considered to be the model that saved Chrysler. At the time, every car manufacturer was focused on building huge, V-8 cars. Chrysler saw a potential market for smaller cars and exploited it so successfully that the Dodge Omni remains one of the top classic cars for sale in the market today.

Considered among the most popular classic cars for sale, the Audi Quattro made its debut in 1980 and continued to be produced up to 1991. The original Audi Quattro was the first to include Audi's All Wheel Drive system among the many features that put the car at the top of the rally machine class.

There are many more models of used classic cars that are considered among the best, like Ford's T Model, the Toyota Corolla, the Plymouth Barracuda, the Datsun 240z and the Honda Civic, which continues to be produced. Fortunately, most of them can be found at any auto trader; classic cars like these won't disappear soon.

What does that Classic Label Really Mean?

For some people a "classic" car is simply the one they wanted in high school but couldn't afford or the one their favorite action hero drove in the movies. If an automobile of any age appeals to you, it's your "classic." But at the same time, it's also a used car. Take all the same precautions with a vintage BMW you'd take with a Honda from the want ads. Check the car for physical damage, ask for a driving history, and get an independent opinion form a mechanic - essentially, don't let the stars get in your eyes. Just because a classic car looks gorgeous doesn't mean it can't be a lemon.

You will make some compromises with a classic car. Parts will be harder to find, gas mileage won't be as good, and every time you park it you'll be scared to death some one will park wrong and scratch it. This is a prestige and image purchase, a "toy" if you will that can bring you years of pleasure and satisfaction. But if possible, you will probably want your classic to be your second car not your primary automobile.

Shop Carefully

While you can do your primary shopping for classic cars online, always make provisions to see the car yourself and to have it evaluated. There are thousands of classic cars for sale out there and one of them has your name on it - just make sure that "one" is running and in good condition before you take it home.
